our elite 5 Bay Area band finalists of this year's NOT SO SILENT NIGHT LOCAL BAND COMPETITION!
these rising stars of the Bay Area music scene, out of over 100 original demo submissions, made it through three rigorous rounds so far and now the top 5 vote getters, Dizzy Balloon, Music For Animals, Go Kart Mozart, Please Do Not Fight and Picture Atlantic, move on to the final showcase competition on Monday, December 8 @ Cafe du Nord. (get tickets NOW at www.cafedunord.com. we sold more than 1/2 of the total tickets in the first hour today!!)
* doors at 7:30pm and the judges include: me, miles the intern, Jennifer Maerz, music editor of the SF Weekly, Larry Trujillo, manager of the Blank Club, Oakland, Joe Goldberg and Justin Little, Zeitgeist management (manage Death Cab For Cutie, Rogue Wave, She & Him, etc), Annie Anderson, Talking House Records and finally, Oakland's Maldroid, winners of the NSSN 2007 local band competition.
the winning band will be announced on Tuesday, December 9th at 9am when i'll call the Woody show with the results, and of course, will land the highly-coveted opening slot at NSSN 2008 with The Killers, Death Cab For Cutie, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party and Jack's Mannequin.
