The Woody Show's Greg Gory headed to Dublin, Ireland for St. Patrick's Day! Check out the photos and the blog from his trip, courtesy of Jameson!
GREG GORY’S JAMESON WEEKEND in DUBLIN
SATURDAY, MARCH 15TH After a 10 hour flight on Aer Lingus (yes, Lingus – insert tongue joke here), I arrived in Dublin at 8:15…was promptly greeted by the fine folks of Jameson, my new favorite adult beverage. More on that later. Had some time to tool around the city on my own. What a great city! Cobblestone streets are lined with pubs that I can only imagine saw the likes of some amazing people and stories. The River Liffey was my landmark – if I could find the river, I could find my room at the Morrison Hotel…the meeting place before all events where I would sip on Jameson and ginger ale. Enjoyed it responsibly, of course!
Drinks at the bar, dinner at Ely’s, and then onto the nightclubs. To say the bars and clubs were packed would be a gross understatement. To say my friends at Jameson treated us well would also be an understatement – every last detail was taken care of, and I learned that my second favorite drink is Jameson and cranberry – give it a try! Responsibly, of course.
SUNDAY, MARCH 16th Took a great tour of Dublin and the beach towns and a bit of the ol’ countryside as well. Saw Bono’s house (or at least the fence surrounding his compound), the massive estate belonging to the Edge, the spring lambs, the rocky shores, and enjoyed a Jameson toast on top of a mountain overlooking a lake in Sally Gap. Mind-blowing views! Picked up hitchhikers on the way back to the Morrison…they agreed to play us some guitar and fiddle if we agreed to share the whiskey. Everyone was happy.
MONDAY, MARCH 17th St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin – does it get any better? I’ll answer that with NO. Tons of people lined the streets by day and filled the pubs by night. Had the distinct pleasure of spending the day at the Jameson distillery, where they’ve been holding parties for over 200 years! The technical aspects were flawless…it was such a trip to interact with Woody, Tony, and Ravey from Dublin. Oh, and if memory serves me, I drank a bunch of Irish coffees while I “worked.” Dinner aboard a ship, more pubs, and a little sleep…
TUESDAY, MARCH 18th
Sadly, time to go…Had a GREAT time in Dublin and I hope to go back next year. A huge thank-you to Jameson…they know how to throw a party, how to make an array of perfect drinks, and pull off a global broadcast with radio stations from 38 countries around the world without a hitch. Have I mentioned that you should enjoy it responsibly?
